30/09/2008 Carbide specialist CERATIZIT expands production in the ‘Horb am Neckar’ plant, Germany Ground breaking ceremony on 24 September

IThe CERATIZIT group currently is in a restructuring phase of its production sites. The purpose of this new structure is to bundle production capacity, know-how and experience. Some product segments will be transferred to Horb which makes the expansion of the production capacities at the plant necessary. The two new buildings will have a total surface of some 8,000 square metres and with 10 million Euros will be the largest individual investment of the CERATIZIT group. Start of construction is on 25 September. In July 2009 production will start in the new hall, and the office building will be used from October 2009 onwards. Currently CERATIZIT Horb has around 400 employees (310 in production, 90 employees office staff).

The Horb site focuses on components for wear protection
CERATIZIT Horb is becoming a branch that exclusively develops and manufactures products for wear protection. In addition to tools for wood machining, in the future carbide products for the die industry and for applications in the automotive industry, plastic, paper and textile industry will also be produced.

In his speech on the occasion of the ground breaking ceremony, Dr. Wolfgang Glätzle, member of the CERATIZIT Board explained: “One of the reasons for the expansion of this site is the courage and the attitude of the employees: they already showed in the past that they were willing to face difficulties and to develop innovative solutions for our customers by using their creativity. And it is exactly in these industrial sectors where such an approach is required. CERATIZIT is not merely a carbide production plant but rather a partner who is able to offer solutions thanks to precise analyses of the customer’s processes combined with the experience of many years.”
